The Course

About the programme

The  M.Sc. Electronics is a Two Years, Four Semester  Professional  Course is being offered by the Department of Physics at University College of Science Campus, which is a constituent college of the Mohanlal Sukhadia University,Udaipur. The department has developed excellent laboratory and computational facilities to train students in Electronics under various Special programmes. Department welcomes candidates from India and abroad  to pursue advanced studies in Electronics. Medium of instruction as well as that of examination is English. Outstation candidates are normally provided with hostel accommodation. 

 Curricula

Master of Science (M.Sc.) in Electronic is a self sufficient professional course designed to train students in different areas of electronics with emphasis in communication electronics. Graduates of M.Sc. (Electronics) will have a broad  technical knowledge of design, fabrication and testing of analog and digital electronic circuits, interfacing and programming of Microprocessor and Microcontroller systems, design and implementing computer communication networks. The course also provides opportunity to specialize in the current and emerging areas  of  Computer Science and Telecommunications.

Theory:       40 hrs/paper  covered through 4hrs/week instructions per paper  

Practical:  180 hrs of practical classes to be covered through 18 hrs/week laboratory work.

COMUNICATION SKILL & PERSONALITY DEVELOPMENT

Spoken English (TOFEL Level) and Personality Development are included in the curriculum

The Intake capacity in  M.Sc. Electronics is 20 seats  under  ‘Self Finance Seats’

 

 

Course Fees

 

Rs 15000/- per semester.  Students are also required to pay  Local fund fee of  Rs 800/- (approximately) per year and Rs 1000/- as caution deposit (Refundable)

 

 

General Guidelines

 

A.     APPLICATION FORM  AND ITS SUBMISSION

 

  1. Each  candidate seeking admission in M.Sc. Electronics Post graduate Course will have to appear in an Entrance Test to be conducted by this Department
  2. The Application Forms along with Information Booklet will be available for sale w.e.f Friday, the 10th June 2005 during office hours by paying Rs 500/- in cash (for SC/ST candidates, Rs 250/-) or by sending a Demand draft for Rs 550/- (for SC/ST candidates Rs 300/-) in favour of  “ Head, Department of Physics” drawn at any bank in Udaipur. This will include the cost of the Application Form and Entrance Test Fee.
  3. The candidate should send their Application Form completed in all respect by hand or by registered Post so as to reach this office on or before last date  The Application Form must accompany the attested photocopy of the First year, Second  year and Third year marksheets.  Application form without marksheets of all the three years of  qualifying examination will be rejected.  If final year result of the qualifying examination is not declared, candidate can submit their application form with first and second year marksheets at their own risk and third year marksheets of such candidates must be presented before a prescribed date notified by the Department.
  4. The Photograph must be attested by a Gazetted Officer/I class Magistrate/ Principal of the last institution attended.
  5. In complete Application  Forms and Forms received after last date and time will be rejected.

 

B.      ELIGIBILITY

Candidates seeking admission to the first Semester of M.Sc. in Electronics must have passed B,Sc. (10+2+3) degree with Physics or Electronics or Computer Science as one of the optional subjects  or B.E degree in any branch of Engineering with at least 50% marks at their graduation from any recognized by the University. Candidates from outside the State of Rajasthan seeking admission in this course will be eligible only if they have secured a minimum of 60% (I Division) marks. Candidates who have appeared in the qualifying examination and their result is awaited, may appear in the Entrance Test on their own risk. They must submit a copy of the mark sheet  to this office before declaration of results of the Entrance Test.

 

Candidates belonging to SC/ST/OBC categories will be eligible for admission on the minimum pass marks. Candidates appearing in supplementary Examination of the qualifying examination will not be eligible for admission.

 

C.     RESERVATION OF SEATS

 

The reservations of seats will be made in accordance with the statutory provisions made by the University for various catregories. As per the existing provisions the reservation of seats shall be made as per following:

 

 

1. Candidate belonging to SC category                                                       16%

2. Candidate belonging to ST category                                                        12%

3. Candidate belonging to OBC category                                                     21%

4. Candidate belonging to Physically Handicapped category                        3%

 

No other reservations shall be made in this self sufficient professional course. 

 

Note: In case of any dispute regarding eligibility and reservations/relaxations, the guidelines provided in the University Information Bulletin will be treated as final

 

(a)    Candidate belonging to SC/ST/OBC shall be required to produce a certificate from a District Magistrate/SDM/Tehsildar to claim the reservation benefit

(b)   In case of non-availablity of the candidates from Reservation category the vacant seats will be filled by General Category candidates as per rules. In case of Physically Handicapped candidate they will produce a Medical Certificate indicating at least  40% disability by a doctor not less than a Reader in A Medical College or by a Junior Specialist/CMHO where there is no Medical College.

 

 

D.     SCHEME OF ENTRANCE TEST

 

The Entrance Test for admission to M.Sc. Electronics  Post Graduate Course (Two Years) will be held on  Thursday  14th July , 2005 at University College of Science (M.B.College, Durga Nursery Road) campus. The duration of test will be 2 hrs. The entrance examination shall consist of tests on Electronics (50%), mathematical ability (25%),Mental ability (25%) . The test paper will contain 100 Multiple Choce Questions (MCQs).

 

Note: There will be no negative marking

G.    METHOD OF EXAMINATION

 

Marking of answer on OMR sheets

 

  1. The candidates will be required to mark their answers on OMR sheets (Optically Marked Response Sheet) by blackening the appropriate bubbles with the help of HB pencil.
  2.  Each candidate will bring HB pencil and an eraser during the Entrance Test. They are advised to avoid smudging of the response on the OMR sheet in order to avoid complications during computer processing of the sheet.
  3. The candidate should go through the instructions given on the Test Booklet to be provided at the time of  Entrance Test before attempting to answer questions.
  4. Change in answer on OMR sheet, if necessary, should be done  by properly erasing the wrong answer marked  in the bubbles

 

H.     ADMISSION PROCEDURE

 

  1. Those candidates who fulfill minimum eligibility conditions as laid down by the University and who have appeared in the Entrance Test will be considered for admission in M.Sc. Electronics Course.
  2. Candidates will be admitted in the course by providing 50% weight to the marks obtained in Entrance Test while 50% weightage will be given to the marks obtained in optional theory papers only (excluding marks obtained in practicals) at B.Sc. Examination.
  3. Categorywise merit list will be prepared and results will be declared

 

Note: No weightage  of any other kind will be available for admission in this course.

 

I:  EXAMINATION CENTRE

 

The Entrance Test will be conducted at University College  of Science Campus (M.B.College, Durga Nursery Road, Udaipur on the specified date and time. 

Admission Card  will be issued to the candidate at the time of submission of  Application form. Outstation  candidates can collect their Admission card on the same day of entrance examination at 10.00AM from the Department. If the candidates  fail to  produce the admission card at the time of test, they may not be allowed to appear in the examination.
